Services

Six services, one standard of clarity.

Business support, commercial analysis and advisory services for clients in the UK and internationally. The needs, steps and deliverables below describe the usual framework; the exact scope, deliverables and fees of each assignment are set out in a written proposal.

01

Commercial Analysis

A clear, evidence-based view of how a business sells, to whom, and where it can improve.

Commercial analysis reviews the elements that drive a business’s sales: its offer, customer base, sales channels, pricing presentation and commercial indicators. MTL Consulting works from the information provided by the client and from public sources to build a structured picture of the current situation.

The result is a written analysis that highlights strengths, gaps and practical priorities, so that the business owner can take commercial decisions on a sound basis.

Typical needs

  • Understanding which products, services or customers generate the most value
  • Identifying why sales are stagnating or uneven
  • Reviewing how the offer is presented to customers
  • Preparing a commercial decision with reliable information

How we work

  1. 01Scoping call and list of information required
  2. 02Review of the offer, customer base and sales channels
  3. 03Analysis of available commercial data and indicators
  4. 04Identification of strengths, gaps and priorities
  5. 05Written report and review meeting

Example deliverables

  • Commercial analysis report
  • Customer and offer overview
  • Key indicators summary
  • Prioritised recommendations

02

Business Support

Ongoing, structured support for business owners on day-to-day priorities and projects.

Business support provides owners and managers with a regular external sounding board and practical help to move projects forward: clarifying priorities, structuring a project, preparing business documents and following up on agreed actions.

It can be provided as a one-off assignment or as a recurring package agreed in a service agreement, with a defined number of working sessions and deliverables.

Typical needs

  • Structuring a new project or initiative
  • Setting priorities and keeping them on track
  • Preparing business presentations, plans or process documents
  • Having an independent adviser to review decisions

How we work

  1. 01Initial session to agree objectives and scope
  2. 02Roadmap with priorities and milestones
  3. 03Regular working sessions (remote or on site)
  4. 04Preparation of agreed documents
  5. 05Progress review and adjustments

Example deliverables

  • Project roadmap
  • Meeting notes and action lists
  • Business documents prepared for the client
  • Progress tracking dashboard

03

Sales Strategy Advisory

Defining who to sell to, with what message, and through which sales approach.

Sales strategy advisory helps a business define a coherent approach to its market: target segments, value proposition, sales process and prospecting methods. MTL Consulting reviews the current approach and proposes a structured, realistic sales strategy adapted to the resources available.

Recommendations are written to be directly usable by the business owner or sales team, with clear priorities and a timeline.

Typical needs

  • Choosing which customer segments to prioritise
  • Clarifying the value proposition and key messages
  • Structuring a sales process from first contact to signature
  • Defining a realistic prospecting approach

How we work

  1. 01Review of the current offer and sales approach
  2. 02Definition and qualification of target segments
  3. 03Value proposition and key messages
  4. 04Sales process and prospecting recommendations
  5. 05Sales action plan with priorities and timeline

Example deliverables

  • Sales strategy document
  • Target segment profiles
  • Value proposition summary
  • Sales action plan

04

Market Research

Structured market and competitor information to support business decisions.

Market research gathers, cross-checks and analyses information about a market: its size and structure where data is available, the main competitors and their offers, customer expectations and relevant trends. Research is primarily desk-based, using public and sector sources, and can include interviews where agreed with the client.

Findings are delivered as concise, sourced reports answering the client’s specific question, for example before launching a service or entering a new market.

Typical needs

  • Assessing a market before a launch or expansion
  • Understanding competitors’ positioning and offers
  • Identifying trends that may affect the business
  • Comparing several markets or segments

How we work

  1. 01Definition of the research question and scope
  2. 02Desk research and information gathering
  3. 03Competitor and trend analysis
  4. 04Synthesis of findings and implications
  5. 05Report delivery and discussion

Example deliverables

  • Market research report
  • Competitor overview
  • Trends summary
  • Market comparison table

05

Business Development Support

Practical help to identify opportunities and organise business development actions.

Business development support helps a business turn its growth objectives into concrete actions: identifying relevant opportunities and types of prospects or partners, preparing presentation materials, and organising and tracking development activities.

MTL Consulting supports the client’s own business development; it does not act as a sales agent and does not sell on the client’s behalf.

Typical needs

  • Identifying new opportunities, segments or partner types
  • Preparing materials to present the business
  • Organising business development activities
  • Tracking actions and results over time

How we work

  1. 01Review of growth objectives and resources
  2. 02Identification of opportunities and target profiles
  3. 03Preparation of presentation materials
  4. 04Business development action plan
  5. 05Follow-up sessions where agreed

Example deliverables

  • Opportunity assessment
  • Target profile list
  • Presentation materials
  • Development action plan and tracker

06

Operational Analysis

Understanding how work gets done, and how to make it simpler and more reliable.

Operational analysis reviews how a business runs day to day: processes, roles, tools and information flows. It identifies bottlenecks, duplicated tasks and risks, and proposes practical improvements based on the business’s real constraints.

It is an organisational and operational review, not a statutory or financial audit.

Typical needs

  • Clarifying who does what, and how
  • Reducing delays, errors or duplicated work
  • Documenting processes for greater consistency
  • Preparing operations for growth

How we work

  1. 01Description of current processes and roles
  2. 02Identification of bottlenecks and risks
  3. 03Design of simplified processes
  4. 04Operational action plan with priorities
  5. 05Optional follow-up during implementation

Example deliverables

  • Operational analysis report
  • Process maps
  • Operational action plan
  • Tracking dashboard
